Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27, he was enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark and was graduated in the year 1995. He was also a part of The Killing, a drama series that aired worldwide. He then appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill the two internationally acclaimed Danish dramas. He played Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, in an episode on BBC Drama Sherlock. He was the Russian president in the American TV show House of Cards. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his performance in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm.In addition to his native Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English and has also mastered several accents. He has said that he and his brother first learned English through listening to Monty Python records and learning the sketches of comedy.
